Description
“Valeriana” is an elegant sport route on solid limestone, featuring technical climbing on a moderately angled slab. It begins with an easy first section and continues with consistent difficulty, requiring good balance and precise footwork. The bolts are well placed (11 in total), providing comfort without taking away the route’s character. The anchor is solid but without a ring; descent is done by rappel or with a cord sling.
Access
From Kryoneri, follow the classic uphill path leading to the Spider area (north of “Afrikana”). “Valeriana” is located in the central section of the crag, easily recognizable by its continuous line of bolts on the slab, just left of “Nirvana”.
Approach time: 40 minutes
Recommended Equipment
80 m rope (to safely cover the 40 m).
12 quickdraws.
1–2 slings or long quickdraws to reduce rope drag.
Helmet.
Optional small set of nuts for extra protection in cracks.
